Medal of Honor

Marine receives Medal of Honor at White House

“You did your duty above and beyond and you kept the faith”

On Sept 15, 2011, Dakota Meyer became the first living Marine to be recognized with the nation’s highest military honor for actions in Afghanistan or Iraq.  Meyer is only the second Marine to earn the Medal of Honor from the current wars.  Meyer ran through enemy fire to recover wounded American and Afghan troops during a firefight.  He is credited with saving the lives of 13 U.S. Marines and soldiers, and 23 Afghan soldiers.

Staying true to the ideals that make this country and those who serve great, Meyer stated that because he was unable to save 4 more Marines, he felt that he “was a failure…My guys died.  That was my whole team.”

Untold Story of Heroism

Excellent article about an Air Force pilot who was ready to give her life on September 11th, 2001.  With no ordnance on board her jet, she was faced with the possibility of ramming her plane into one of the hijacked passenger jets.

10 Years Later

September 11, 2001 – one of those days where everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing.  I hope that that we don’t just say that we remember and will never forget when we’re reminded on an annual basis.  This event changed the entire landscape of our country, and how we act and react as Americans.  We at Blue Yonder are grateful for those who put their lives on the line everyday to protect the freedoms that we enjoy in this country.  Thank you to the military, fire, police, federal agents, secret service, intelligence agencies and everyone else who serve and go above and beyond.

  • Original: “Those who “abjure” violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf”
  • Better known version: “We sleep peaceably in our beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf.”
